The Symbolism of the Kinara Candles

The seven candles of the kinara are arranged in three colors: red, black, and green. The color black, symbolizing the people, the red symbolizing the struggle of our Ancestors, and green symbolizing all of the rich resources in Africa and hope for our community. All seven candles are called the Mishumaa Saba- representing the seven principles of Kwanzaa.
